In 2024, IMHA successfully conducted the Humare Anubhav Hamari Aawaaz programme with a four-day residential workshop in Dehradun, in partnership with Burans.
The programme, which focused on integrating lived experience expertise into mental health programs, brought together 15 participants from 10 development sector organisations.
Participants explored the value of centering lived experience in mental health, its role in governance, co-design, and evaluation, while team-building activities fostered collaboration. Experts Bakul Dua, Kaaren Mathias, and Dr. Alok Sarin led discussions on bias, power dynamics, and cultural safety, complemented by a field visit to community spaces in Dehradun.
Inspired by the lived experiences of many of our founding cohort members; India Mental Health Alliance recognises the need for a robust mental healthcare ecosystem in India.
